The West-Ukrainian Resource Center was founded in 1994 at the initiative of 15 non-profit organizations in Lviv. The organization was officially registered in early 1995 and re-registered in 1999. The WURC has a staff of 12, 16 trainers (half-time) and several volunteers.

To promote the development of civil society through the support of community initiatives

Our goals:
  1. To develop and strengthen local communities though supporting local results-oriented community initiatives.
  2. To develop productive cooperation between the state, business, and civil society organizations.
  3. To develop local and regional NGO potential through the delivery of quality educational, consulting and informational services for these groups.

Our main strategic directions are:

  1. Community development: educational, consulting, and practical support to the development of local communities and initiative groups in the Western region of Ukraine. Educational support of several pilot communities in Ukraine. Complex support of social and economic development of communities since 2004;
  2. Social and political processes (educational programs in social development, public opinion polls, educational seminars for NGOs, international exchange programs);
  3. Network projects (cooperation of regional resource centers in Ukraine, Informational Community Network, cooperation with resource centers for NGOs);
  4. Economics and economical cooperation, local economic development, environmental economy, bio-energy projects;
  5. Migrant advice, prevention of irregular migration, returnee assistance, xenophobia and tolerance ussues.
